The West Hillhurst Community Association takes the lead to bring the most popular events, programs and presentations to the community of West Hillhurst and WHCA members.  Organization and planning are the key ingredients in presenting the future products that come to your community association.

  1.  Stampede Breakfast – Join your WHCA on July 12, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. as we celebrate the Calgary Stampede.  Come on down for a FREE pancake breakfast, enjoy the entertainment and come visit with your neighbours.  The BatterBoys will be serving pancakes, sausage, juice and more!  Don’t miss it!
  2. Pride:  A Conversation – Join your WHCA as we celebrate Calgary Pride Week from August 24 – September 3, 2018.  The WHCA will be hosting a informational presentation with professionals, LGTBQ+ community members and more, during a panel discussion about: Education/ information about sexual health and LGTBQ+ community, information on local resources and support groups and building rapport & inclusion within West Hillhurst and the LGTBQ+ community.
  3.   Taste of the Neighbourhood – 18+ ADULT-ONLY evening.  Sample some of Calgary’s best local food and beverage options, bid on silent auction items and get lost in the high-stake mock casino games.  This year, Taste of the Neighbourhood is sport themed.  Wear your favourite jersey.  The WHCA has also partnered up with the Calgary Food Bank and will be accepting non-perishable food donations at the event and throughout the month of September.
  4.  Village Brewery Rebate Month – The WHCA is still collecting your Village Brewery receipts until the end of June.  Village Brewery, in collaboration with Federation of Calgary Communities, will give a 15% rebate to non-profit community associations from their total of collected receipts.   Remember to bring them in!

May @ the WHCA

May is here and we truly hope that the snow stays away.  It’s time to enjoy the warmth of the spring sun and the freshness of May flowers.  It’s time to enjoy some out door activities such as soccer, football, running, biking etc.  Does that not tickle your fancy?  Why not check out what the West Hillhurst Community Association has happening in May.

The Price is Right Live

The Price is Right Live is coming back to the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino.  Come on down and enjoy the interactive game show that is sure to get the audience going.  Have your chance to play a game and spin the big wheel.

 

As reported on the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino website, “The Price is Right Live is the hit interactive stage show that gives eligible individuals the chance to “Come on Down” and play classic games from television’s longest running and most popular game show. Contestants can win cash, appliances, vacations, and possibly even a new car by playing favorites like Plinko, Cliffhangers, The Big Wheel and the fabulous Showcase.”

Calgary Maple Festival des Sucres

Start March off right with some good family fun, entertainment and some east-coast tradition at the annual Calgary Maple Festival des Sucres.  This two-day weekend event hosts multiple of dance and folk music from French-Canadian, Metis and First Nations folk music, dance and tasty foods from local businesses.

Go Canada Go! The Winter Olympics are Here!

In just three days, the world comes together on the largest international sport stage.  The opening ceremonies of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games takes place on February 9, 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.  It is expected that thousands of people will attend the event to cheer on their favourite athletes and country.  There is 16 days of full winter sport action in events such as: curling, speed skating, skiing, hockey, figure skating and more.  After the 16 days of fast paced action, the 2018 Paralympics will begin on Thursday, March 9, 2018 for ten exhilarating days of the best athletics.

WHCA Winter Carnival

WHCA will be hosting a family friendly Winter Carnival event on February 10, 2018.  Get you and your family bundled up to take part in some awesome outdoor activities throughout the day.  The carnival is absolutely free to attend.  Bring your neighbours, friends and family down to the event where there will be a host of fun winter themed activities, hot chocolate, coffee and hotdogs.

There will be activities such as family/ team ski races, snow sculpture contests, maple syrup candy, toboggan races and more.  Sleigh rides will be provided to anyone who wants to jump on and will be pulled around the community centre from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., graciously sponsored by Brady Dance Academy.

Come on down for some winter fun and enjoy all the fun activities.  The event will be perfect for the kiddos and we are sure they will love all offerings.  Remember, the event is full free, but additional cost may apply to food and beverage purchases.  We look forward to having some fun at the winter wonderland carnival.
